Tyra made the show team!!

After a very long week of working hard, Tyra had dance tryouts on Friday the 4th for the beginning show team from Down Town Dance. I thought she was more prepared this year than the past two years, but you just never know. So, we were sitting on pins and needles until the mail came. She had probably checked it at least 5 times before it actually came. When Tommy brought it in, we sneaked a peak before she opened it, just so I could prepare myself with a reaction. When she came in and read her letter that said CONGRATULATIONS we both jumped up and down in excitement. She ran and gave me a hug and I swear she hasn't quit talking about it since!

The other day she said, "Mom, now I'll get to be in the same room as Alexis (her cousin) at the dance competitions!!" I said, "That's right. How fun!" Then she said, "And at the end of the year recital, for the opening number, they will say.... TYRA!" and then she hit a really goofy pose. So cute! She is SOOOOO excited, as am I. I am so glad that she has been given this opportunity. I think she will grow so much as a dancer now. I can't wait to help her.

Another thing that she is super excited about, is that a few weeks ago she got her back handspring by herself now, in gymnastics! She can do her round off back handspring by herself but she is still nervous to do it without a spotter standing nearby just in case. Hopefully she'll get up more guts soon!

Just a few days ago, because she made the dance team, she has started her ballet class now. I asked her how she liked it and she said that it was AWESOME! Then she said, "Well, actually, you'll be mad at me if I say the word." I asked her what she meant and she whispered, "....it sucked!" HA! HA! I almost died laughing. I asked why and she said because it was so hard. She said, "It's not REAL ballet, it's JAZZ ballet." I told her that no matter what kind of ballet it is, it was going to be hard! It was cute. I am so glad though. I have wanted her in ballet forever and we've just never had the opportunity or the right circumstances to put her in it yet. It will be fun to see her working on learning the right technique for things.

Yesterday she realized that she will get to be in the parade this year. She was SO excited!! They don't dance or anything. The older girls dance and the younger one's get to ride on the float, but she doesn't care. I love to see her so excited and happy about something. It's going to be busy, but very fun and exciting year!!!
